What does a hot work course really cost?
Several providers advertise one price and show another at checkout – VAT and fees are only added on top at the final step. So we went through the entire ordering flow of the most visible providers of online hot work courses and noted the actual final total. Here is the result.
All prices were verified on July 15, 2026 by going through the providers' own public ordering flows. Screenshots are archived as documentation.
Online course (theory part): verified final price per participant
Final total as it actually appears in the provider's checkout or registration form. The practical extinguishing exercise is an additional cost with all providers in this table.

Lowest final price – as of the verification date
As of the verification date, Sertio (NOK 1,490 – everything included) has the lowest final price of every provider we found. The closest is Instant Norge at a marketed NOK 1,590 – but their checkout requires account registration, so the final total could not be publicly verified. Prices change: we re-verify monthly, and if you find a lower final price at an approved provider, let us know and we will update the table.
The full certification path: theory + practical extinguishing exercise
To obtain the certificate, a documented practical extinguishing exercise is also required. Here is what the total looks like when both parts are included:

From 1 January 2027, a VR extinguishing exercise is the only approved form of the practical exercise. Sertio's practical extinguishing exercise already uses VR extinguishing equipment.
What the final price doesn't show
- 7 languages with professional voiceover – Norwegian, English, Polish, Romanian, Ukrainian, Spanish and Lithuanian. Take the course in your native language.
- Course certificate the same day you pass the exam.
- AI tutor available throughout the entire course.
- Pay with Vipps or card. The total price is shown before you enter so much as an email address.
- Advertised price = final price. The mandatory Brannvernforeningen fees (NOK 607.50) are always included – they apply to all course providers in Norway.
About this comparison
All providers in the tables offer courses approved by Brannvernforeningen. Prices were verified on July 15, 2026 by going through the providers' own public ordering flows, and screenshots are archived as documentation. Note the difference between a course certificate and the certificate: the course certificate is issued by the course provider when you pass the theory exam, while the actual hot work certificate is always issued by Norsk brannvernforening after a documented extinguishing exercise – regardless of which provider you choose.
